TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Java Police has officially issued an investigation termination warrant (SP3) for the defamation case of state ideology Pancasila allegedly committed by the leader of Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Rizieq Shihab.

“The case has been stopped by the investigation team at the end of February (2018),” West Java Police spokesperson Adj. Sr. Comr. Trunoyudho Wisnu Andiko said in a phone interview with Tempo on Friday, May 4.

The police said the case was terminated on the lack of evidence, as reported in the investigation results.

“We have conducted a thorough, comprehensive investigation, but the case lacks evidence,” he said. “It’s only one report filed by Sukmawati with report number LP/1077/X/2016."

In October 2016, Sukmawati Soekarnoputri lodged a police report against Rizieq for allegedly insulting state ideology Pancasila and Indonesia's first president Soekarno.

In January 2017, the West Java Police named Rizieq Shihab as a suspect and charged him with Article 154 of the Criminal Code on the insult against state symbols and Article 320 on defamation.

Rizieq Shihab is currently residing in Saudi Arabia on reasons he has been criminalized. Aside from the Pancasila case, Rizieq has also been named a suspect in the pornography case related to steamy chat messages with Firza Husein. The Jakarta Police has yet to announce any developments on the case.
