TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Research, Technology and Higher Education Minister Mohamad Nasir released Indonesia Research Education Network (IdREN) in Bandung on Wednesday, May 2, which coincides with National Education Day or Hardiknas 2018. It becomes a collaborative means between national and international universities in online learning activities, research, and scientific cooperation.
Minister Nasir said IdREN is made to develop higher education activities, especially research and collaboration of international research through private channels. "We are currently connecting network access and service integration to national institutions such as the National Library and LIPI," he said.

Meanwhile, in public and private universities, the ministry invited 85 public and private universities to create massive digital learning.
"The goal is to make a professor can teach a thousand students across time and regions," said Nasir. His office will ensure the quality of content, learning process, evaluation, until the quality of the graduates.

The Directorate General of Student Learning will prepare 1,500 online learning modules that are opened and accessible for free. The fund granted for a program called Spada (online learning system) was Rp3 billion from the government to the university preparing the IdREN. There are currently 80 universities involved in the network.
