TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta administration is expediting the construction of venues in the capital that would be used for the 2018 Asian Games on August 18-September 2018.
Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno said among the venues was the baseball field, as the orders for the construction of the arenas had not been issued until the beginning of the year.
The baseball field will be built adjacent to the Jakarta International Velodrome.
“The instructions were issued in the beginning of the year, but we will make it happen. God willing, [the completion] will be on time,” he said at the sailing venue in Ancol, Jakarta, on Friday, April 27, 2018.

The deputy governor accompanied today Vice President Jusuf Kalla inspecting some of the venues. The entourage visited the Velodrome, baseball field, and left for Ancol to check on the jet ski and sailing arenas.
According to Tempo’s observation, the baseball, jet ski and sailing arenas were still in the initial construction phase.
Kalla aimed at completing the construction of necessary infrastructure for the 2018 Asian Games in June 2018, and Sandiaga said he was upbeat in meeting the target by increasing manpower and work hours.

“We will add more men, more work hours. If necessary, we will have three 24-hour shifts. But safety remains first,” he said.
Sandiaga Uno explained the construction of the Velodrome had presently reached 95 percent. The Velodrome will boast bicycle, futsal and badminton arenas. “We are ahead of schedule for the Velodrome,” he said.
