Soekarno-Hatta South Perimeter Road still Closed: Police

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Soekarno Hatta International Airport police have kept the South Perimeter Road closed on Wednesday following a collapsed wall near an underpass on Monday, killing a car driver and injuring a passenger. Hence, the traffic heading to the international airport in Tangerang, Banten Province, was diverted to the Perimeter Utara Road, Senior Commissioner Yusep, the airport's police chief, revealed on Wednesday.
The traffic was diverted for safety reasons. Meanwhile, workers continued to clear debris from the disaster site after police investigators had completed their work, he noted.

"People keen on travelling to and from the airport were urged to use the North Perimeter Road to avoid the landslide-hit underpass," he remarked.
The wall collapsed at around 5:45 pm local time on Monday. A witness, Sofiah heard a rumbling and the car horned countinuosly. Sukatani villagers who were around came out to the scene. "It turns out there is a car crushed by the falling concrete wall," she said.
The incident claimed one live and injured another. Dyanti Dyah Ayu Chayani Putri, 24, who was driving her car and was accompanied by her colleague named Mutmainah Syamsudin, 25, when the disaster occurred.

Putri was pulled out of the car that was hit by huge concrete at 3 a.m. local time on Tuesday, or after more than 10 hours of rescue efforts. She suffered broken neck bone and femur. Putri three hours later at the hospital.
Meanwhile, Mutmainah was trapped for more than 14 hours underneath the concreate. The medical team rushed her to Siloam Lippo Karawaci hospital. "She is stable, getting better, and able to communicate," her father, Syamsuddin Ismail said.
