TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The fire in Cengkareng last night burned 12 buildings. The West Jakarta Fire Department’s chief of operations control Rompis Romli said that 11 kiosks and a house were burned down.
"The kiosks belong to a family, whose home was also engulfed by fire last night. The family rented the kiosks,” Rompis told Tempo on Friday, Feb.2

The fire broke at Pedongkelan Raya street in Kapuk District, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. According to Rompis, the fire began from a cooking accident in the burned-down house. Fire spread quickly and burned the house, along with the kiosks next to it.
The fire led to the death of four people who were all family members. The victims were elderly couple Gunawan and Lani, and their children Edy and Cencen.

The fire broke on Thursday night at around 21:10 Jakarta time. Twenty-one fire trucks were deployed to put out the fire. It took firefighters almost three hours before the fire was put out.
