TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi revealed that the government has decided to focus on developing Indonesia’s human resources in 2019. The decision was made to match the country’s numerous infrastructure developments.
“Infrastructures are essential since it is the foundation to compete with other countries,” said Jokowi on Wednesday, December 27.

Jokowi explained that human resources in Indonesia have the potential to be competitive. He revealed that in 2017, 60 percent of Indonesians consist of productive young people. He expected that this number will climb in 2040, resulting in 195 million young and productive people.
“This can be our greatest strength, but it can also be a problem without human resources development,” he continued.
Jokowi said that competency tests for prospective workers are part of a competent human resources development. “These prospective workers have a clear set of skills, there is no doubting that,” he said.
