Setya Novanto Ready for KPK Response in e-KTP Trial

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Defendant Setya Novanto is scheduled to attend a hearing at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, today, December 28. Today`s hearing agenda is the reading of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors` response to Setya's defense.

Setya arrived at court at 08:35 local time riding in the KPK's prisoner car. He entered the courtroom about an hour later, after which the hearing session began.

Setya's wife Deisti Astriani Tagor is also present, along with Golkar Party's secretary general Idrus Marham.

Setya is the defendant in a corruption case for the electronic identity (e-KTP) procurement. His initial trial as a suspect was on Wednesday, December 13.

Prosecutors are indicting Setya Novanto over charges of corruption, in which is accused of profiting himself and others from the e-KTP procurement, receiving US$7.3 million in funds and luxury watches.

Setya Novanto rejected the indictment and filed an objection, his defense reading took place on Wednesday, December 20.
