TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Depok Police have received a report regarding the dissemination of a video containing pornographic materials allegedly involving a student of the University of Indonesia (UI). The video was disseminated on Wednesday, October 25, on social media and smartphone chat platforms.
“Police has made an information report to investigate the allegation of an act as defined in Law No. 11/2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions and/or Law No 44/2008 on Pornography,” Comr. Putu Kholis Aryana, Depok Police's director of the Criminal Investigation Unit told Tempo on Thursday, October 26.
Based on a preliminary investigation, it was found that the female in the video footage was registered as a student at a state university in Depok. “However, Depok Police investigators are still confirming it with the campus on Thursday morning,” the police explained.
According to Putu, the location where the video was taken remains unknown. It is still unclear who disseminated the video on social media. “Police will intensify the investigation to obtain data and identities of the male and female in the video, as well as the pornographic materials to determine the nexts steps,” he said.
UI spokesperson Egia Etha Tarigan revealed that the female in the video is no longer registered as a student at the campus. “She was graduated from UI,” Egia said.
According to Egia, UI has conducted an internal investigation into the case and confirmed that the female in the pornographic video has graduated from UI.
