TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti said that the government will turn ten illegal fishing boats into mobile museums in the Pangandaran waters, West Java.
“One of the illegal fishing boats that will be turned into museums is a Thai-flagged boat Silver Sea 2 that was captured in 2015,” Susi said in Jakarta on October 20.

In the past two years, the government has faced and won a lawsuit against the owner of Silver Sea 2 that was caught for illegal fishing. The Sabang District Court on October 19 found skipper Yotin Kuarabiab guilty.
Susi said that the Ministry expects to raise awareness on how the fishing boats massively steal Indonesian marine resources.
“Illegal fishing undermines our sovereignty. They enter [Indonesian waters] without permits and steal our fish,” she said.
