TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police will be holding talks with the Transportation Office over the electronic traffic citation.
“We will sit together with transportation observers to discuss the issue,” Jakarta Police Traffic Director Sr. Comr. Halim Pagarra said today, Oct. 5.
Halim said that Jakarta Police and other stakeholders are not yet ready to adopt electronic traffic citation due to the lack of infrastructure, including CCTV cameras to capture license plates.
Jakarta Police have 800 regular CCTV units and 14 speaker CCTV cameras which are yet to be trialed.
The Traffic Directorate is preparing a regulation on the electronic citation after the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) set the target to adopt the system by 2019 in Jakarta and its satellite towns.
