TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi plans to visit Myanmar to discuss the Rohingya crisis in Rakhine State.
“Hopefully, we’ll travel to Myanmar, we’re preparing everything so that it can be conducted soon,” said Retno following her meeting with President Joko Widodo or Jokowi on Wednesday, August 30.

The minister also stated that she had already reported the President regarding her communication attempts to defuse the conflict in Rakhine. Minister Retno has recently discussed the conflict with National Security Advisor Suu Kyi.
She also opened communications with Bangladeshi Foreign Affairs Ministry regarding the de-escalation attempts such as the refugee management of the massive Rohingya Muslims fleeing from Myanmar.
Retno also contacted former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in discussing the implementation of the recommendation that was issued by the Anan Advisory Commission. She was also contacted by the Turkish Foreign Affairs Ministry regarding the heated situation in Myanmar's Rakhine State.
