TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is relieved that the panel of judges has rejected the exception of former House Commission II member Miryam S Haryani. “It’s a positive thing for us; we will now prove the case against the defendant,” KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said yesterday.
Miryam earlier filed an exception over her indictment, citing that the Corruption Court is not authorized to try a perjury case.

The KPK spokesman said that in the next trial KPK will present evidence to prove Miryam’s involvement.
He said that the public prosecutors will show the video of Miryam’s questioning. The recording will allow the panel of judges to assess whether the elements of force or intimidation during questioning exist.
Febri said that rejection of Miryam’s exception proves that legal process cannot be interfered with political process. He referred to the committee of right of inquiry, known as hak angket, against the KPK over corruption case handling procedure.
The KPK will bring witnesses against Miryam S Haryani in the next trial session.
