TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently detaining Miryam S. Haryani at East Jakarta Class 1 jail after she went missing as a fugitive for five days since April 26.
“The suspect will be detained for the next 20 days at corruption eradication commission’s branch jail in East Jakarta,” said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah on Monday, May 1.
A joint team from Jakarta metro police arrested Miryam on early Monday morning. She was named as a suspect of perjury at the alleged electronic ID card or e-KTP graft. The police arrested Miryam and one of her friends at Grand Kemang Hotel.
Previously, Miryam revoked her police report regarding the e-KTP corruption case. The Hanura Party Politician claimed that she was being pressured during her questioning session. KPK said a number of politicians pressured Miryam to deny the graft allegations.
Based on the charges, Miryam is suspected to have distributed and received Rp5.83 billion from the e-KTP project. She is also alleged of keeping Rp7 billion throughout 2010-2012 and distributing it to leaders or members of DPR's Commission II, as well as receiving US$23,000.
