TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State - owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) offers massive discounts in Kereta Api (KAI) Travel Fair 2017. PT KAI president director Edi Sukmoro said that they aim to sell more than 600,000 tickets in the exhibition from today until tomorrow, July 29-30.
Edi explained that KAI sells tickets for the period of the next three months with a wide range of price choices. The visitors are welcomed to get tickets with special prices for executive class to all routes.
"The discount offered is up to 72 percent," he said in Jakarta Convention Center on Saturday, July 29.
Despite offering massive discounts, State Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno claimed that she is not concerned with the financial condition of KAI in the future. "I don’t have any problems with that," she said.
Rini stated that KAI’s activities are not limited to transporting people. KAI also has other businesses including transporting goods, working with other state enterprises to sell hotel rooms, to offering catering services provided on the train to other enterprises.
"There are other sources of return other than transporting people to support the discounted ticket sales," she added.
