TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - World Bank President Jim Yong Kim praised Indonesia's economic growth posted last year. In a meeting with President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo today, Kim said this achievement makes other countries jealous of Indonesia.
In 2016, Indonesia's economic growth reached 5.02 percent.

"Indonesia has a growth rate of more than five percent, which will make most countries in the world envious," Kim said after meeting Jokowi at the Presidential Office in Jakarta, Wednesday.
In the meeting with Kim, Jokowi said he wanted a higher growth rate, as he plans to make Indonesia a high-income country in the not so distant future.
Jokowi has set an economic growth target that's higher than 2016's figures.
"In line with the global economic recovery, we too must set high economic growth target in 2018, between 5.4 and 6.1 percent," Jokowi had said during a plenary session in March.

Kim said the World Bank's meeting with Jokowi is to talk about improvements in development, such as infrastructure and in an effort to increase human resources capacity, which will contribute to economic development.
Kim's visit is part of the 'Voyage to Indonesia' events ahead of the 2018 World Bank Group-International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings which will be held in October next year in Nusa Dua, Bali.
