TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Court handed down seven and five-year jail sentences for defendants of the e-KTP graft case, Irman and Sugiharto, respectively.

The panel of judges ruled that both individuals had enriched themselves, others or corporations causing Rp2.3 trillion in state losses.

“The defendants have been proven guilty of committing corruption crime together,” panel of judges chief Jhon Halasan Butarbutar said when reading the verdict at the Jakarta Corruption Court today, July 20.

Jhon added that both defendants violated Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 paragraph 1 of the Anti-Corruption Law.

The panel of judges also declared that Irman received US$300,000 from Andi Agustinus and US$200,000 from Sugiharto. Meanwhile, Sugiharto received US$30,000 from Paulus Tannos and US$20,000 from Johannes Marliem.

In addition to prison sentences, the panel of judges imposed fines of Rp500 million to Irman and Rp400 million to Sugiharto.

The court has also ordered Irman to return the money he received. Should Irman be unable to return the money within a month after the verdict is in effect, his assets will be seized. He would have to serve another two years in prison if the asset value was insufficient.

The panel of judges at the e-KTP trial required Sugiharto to return US$50,000 minus US$30,000 and a car that he purchased with the money. He also has a month to return the money or his assets will be seized. Should the asset value is insufficient, Sugiharto would have to serve another year in prison.
