TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Two areas in Bogor, West Java, were hit by landslides caused by heavy rain pouring the areas from Thursday evening to Friday, June 29-30.
Bogor Disaster and Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported that the first landslide took place in Lebak Kantik village, Central Bogor district. The landslide destroyed two houses occupied by four families consisting of 23 members.
"The landslide did not claim any lives. The victims were displaced to their relatives’ houses," Bogor BPBD officer Djaya said.
The second landslide hit Gang Masjid, Tanah Sareal sub-district. The slide caused by heavy rain since Thursday evening put five houses on the upper area and three houses in the lower area in danger.
"Eight families consisting of 38 members are in jeopardy," Djaya added.
He explained that to anticipate the expansion of landslide, the areas were covered by a tarp. The crack of the landslide is 15 meters long and 2,5 meter high. He continued that emergency measures have been taken and sub-district chief, BPBD personnel, and emergency response unit are on guard.
