TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting governor of Jakarta, Djarot Saiful Hidayat visited Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok today at the National Police’s Mobile Brigade detention center in Kelapa Dua, Depok. Djarot arrived at 11:00 am and went straight inside to see Ahok.

About an hour later, he came out. The man who assumed the governor role from Ahok after the latter was put in jail for blasphemy, immediately left the vicinity. The PDI-P cadre avoided reporters.

This is Djarot's first visit after Ahok was transferred to Mako Brimob. Ahok was previously detained at the Cipinang Prison in East Jakarta, where Djarot visited him twice a day. Djarot is also known for having a close working and personal relationship with Ahok.

Ahok was given a guilty sentence for committing blasphemy after he referred to a Qur'an verse during a visit to the Thousand Islands in September.

The North Jakarta District Court sentenced him to a two-year jail term and pay a court fine of Rp5,000.
