TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said that the suspects responsible for the acid attack against Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan, might have been hired men. Kalla urged police to seriously handle the case and apprehend the suspects.
"This incident must be related to a high priority case [where they eventually] used a hit man," Kalla said on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
The Vice President said that the attack on KPK's senior investigator represented a form of resistance from certain groups that are being investigated by KPK. "We can't hastily point out which case, but clearly if it's a small case, they wouldn't try to hurt somebody," Kalla said.
Novel Baswedan was attacked using hydrochloric acid by two suspects on a motorcycle after finishing his morning prayer at a mosque in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
