TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The panel of Judges in the Corruption Court canceled today’s hearing of the electronic ID or the e-KTP procurement corruption case. “We suspended the trial, it will be held again on Thursday,” says Chief Judge John Halasan Butar Butar on Monday, March 27, 2017.
The corruption court was scheduled to hold a session on the e-KTP graft case which involves former officials at the Home Affairs Ministry, Irman and Sugiharto. The court session was scheduled to present Miryam S. Haryani and three Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators as witnesses.
Today’s session was to confront two sides and confirm the alleged threat that Miryam received from KPK investigators during her questioning back in December 2016.
Unfortunately, the trial will be continued on Thursday, March 30, 2017. Today's session is canceled because Maryam fell ill since yesterday, March 26, 2017.
At around 10:00, the courtroom was packed with audiences that came to hear the witness’ statement who claims that she received threats from the three KPK investigators. The three investigators are Novel Baswedan, Damanik, and Irwan Susanto, who also attended the planned trial today.
Novel Baswedan was reluctant to provide a comment. He confirmed that he will be present on the following court session. The Thursday's trial will present the same witnesses but the public prosecutor will also prepare other witnesses in case Miryam fails to present herself in court again.
The session was prepared for both sides since Miryam revoked all of her statements contained in the investigation and interrogation report (BAP) regarding the e-KTP case. Originally, Miryam admitted that she was once asked to distribute money worth Rp5.9 trillion from the e-KTP procurement but she denied and revoked all of her statement in last week’s court session.
