TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) Deputy Speaker Laode Muhammad Syarif, applauded the move taken by the Indonesian National Police for reporting a gift received from King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). King Salman recently presented a golden sword to the National Police.
"It's a good [decision]. We extend our thanks to the National Police that reported the sword they received," Laode said on Monday, March 6, 2017.
According to Laode, the move was similar to what President Joko Widodo had done when he was serving as Jakarta Governor. President Joko Widodo reported a guitar he received from metal band Metallica. The gift was then handed over by Joko Widodo to the KPK.
Previously, the Chief of Public Relation Division of the National Police Gen. Rikwanto stated that the Police had received a golden sword from the Saudi Arabian delegates. The gift was presented by Saudi Arabian Ambassador Osama bin Mohammad Abdullah al-Shuaibi during his visit to the National Police Headquarters.
