TEMPO.CO, Padang - Padang Health Agency reported that dengue fever cases in the city is on the rise.
In January 2016, it said that 100 cases have been reported in the city and four patients have died.
"From 100 cases of dengue fever, 4 patients have died,” said Head of Padang Health Agency Eka Lusti on Friday (29/1).
Eka also said that most cases of dengue fever are reported in three districts, namely n Koto Tangah district, Kuranji district and Pauh district because the three districts are densely populated.
According to Eka, January always see the rise in the dengue fever case because it is a transition period (pancaroba) when mosquitoes breed.
Eka went on to say that compared to the same period in 2015, dengue fever cases in 2016 tend to increase.
In 2015, he added, there were only 60 cases of dengue fever and 2 patients died.
Eka further said that Padang Health agency had periodically monitored schools and people’s houses.
The agency has also urged the people to lead a clean and healthy lifestyle. Specifically, the agency warned the people against stagnant water where mosquito breeds.
