TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The North Jakarta Police's Narcotics and Dangerous Substances Team had busted a factory that manufactured Oplosan (boot-leg alcohol) on Jalan Jati Raya Nomor 10, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Sunday, September 28.
The police arrested two suspects at the crime scene, meanwhile the factory's owner, Suharsono, is still on the run. “We have chased him until Brebes, Central Java, where he came from,” said the team's chief, Apollo Sinambela.
A suspect named Casmui said the factory had been operating for three years. He claimed the factory could produce 40,000 to 80,000 bottles of oplosan alcohol per day. One bottle was sold for Rp60,000 to Rp80,000. “Most buyers came here to pick them up. Some for personal consumption, some re-sold them,” he explained.
For their actions, based on Article 35 Regulation Number 18 of 2013 regarding food they could be in jail for two years and fined Rp4 billion. Moreover, based on Article 139 Regulation Number 18 of 2013, they could carry a maximum jail sentence of five years, and maximum fine of Rp10 billion.
