TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Surabaya Zoo (KBS) is still considered to be the favorite sightseeing place at Surabaya, East Java during the Christmas holiday. As proof, there were 14,945 visitors that filled the place on Wednesday, December 25, 2013.
The number has increased by 23 percent compared to the same period last year. "On average, visitors were from Surabaya, Sidoarjo and its surrounding areas," said the zoo’s public relations chief, Agus Supangkat, to Tempo, December 26, 2013.
KBS's management team purposely provided entertainment and interesting education, especially during the Christmas holiday. Amongst others were feeding time, wildlife and clown shows, and live music from dangdut artists. "Visitors can see komodo, crocodiles or elephant being fed," he said, explaining the feeding time show.
Endang (40) was one of the visitors from Surabaya, said that he was never bored with KBS. During a holiday season such as this one, he preferred to visit the zoo rather than travelling outside the city. "Unfortunately, KBS is not like it used to be. It is dirtier and untreated," he said.
