TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Administration will widen the road along TB Simatupang to Fatmawati and all the way to Block A area for the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project. Head of Department of Public Works, Manggas Rudy Siahaan, said that this road work is to anticipate traffic jam during the MRT project work.
"While the MRT project is still in planning, we widen the road to anticipate traffic congestion later on" said Manggas on Monday, September 9, 2013. Manggas said that the road will be widened around 1.5 meters up to 2 meters. So both lanes will have 5-meters width.
Manggas explained that the government allocated budget of Rp32 billion for the project to finish this year, and that the road is also going to be added extra layer.
The road work is meant to support the MRT's infrastructure such as the station. Several locations for the stations' establishment are in Fatmawati, Cipete Raya, and Haji Nawi streets.
