TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra DPD Jakarta Representatives Council, Syarif, responded to the installation of the provocative banner at Jalan Al Habsyi, Kebon Kacang Village, Tanah Abang Sub-District, Central Jakarta. “There is a third party who wants to undermine security,” Syarif said, Wednesday, November 5.

Syarif did not clearly state who the third party was. He only said that the banner installer intentionally wanted to bring the camp of Joko Widodo and Prabowo Subianto into conflict. For that, he asked the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) to arrest the people who installed the banner.

The provocative banner was removed by Bawaslu on Tuesday. The contents of the banner were #PKIMaskedPancasila #JKWwithPKI #JKWHoaxNational #JKWGunderuwoNational #JKWSontoloyoNational, 2019 Sink the PKI. While at the bottom of the banner is the writing “Prabowo - Sandi for President, Indonesia Strong”. On the left side of the banner was a picture of Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno.

Syarif confirmed that Gerindra cadres and election campaign teams could not possibly install such banners.

“Crazy people who want to make provocation but do not reveal their faces. If they want, do not use Pak Prabowo’s face,” he said.

According to Syarif, the installation of the banner was actually detrimental to Prabowo-Sandiaga. “We believe there is a third party who wants to take advantage of the current situation to undermine security,” he said.
