TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - United Development Party (PPP) chairman Romahurmuziy said the coalition party supporting Joko Widodo or Jokowi as the presidential candidate in the 2019 presidential election was final.
Romy said it after Jokowi announced the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Maruf Amin as his vice presidential candidate. “This is final. There is no more additional [party joining] in the Jokowi coalition,” he said at Plataran Menteng, Jakarta, Thursday, August 9.

However, Romy said that the supporting party may leave the coalition before registering to the KPU (General Election Commission). “That’s based on the technical term. But in a political manner, it is not like that. We have all signed a statement of support,” he said.
According to Romy, Jokowi’s decision in choosing Maruf was accepted by all coalition party members. “He is a figure who is able to complete Pak Jokowi."
President Jokowi expressed his consideration in choosing Maruf Amin. “We complete each other; nationalist-religious,” said the president.
Jokowi said he was sure that he could attract voters from all levels of society in Indonesia. "Our target is all Indonesian people from Sabang to Merauke from Miangas to Rote Island,” he said.
