TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - Salsabila Putri Reivalita, a 14-year-old female student from Bekasi City, won a bronze medal in the 14th International Mathematics Contest held in Singapore, July 2018. “There were 15 countries participating in the event. Thank God I win the bronze medal for the junior category,” said Salsabila in Bekasi, Tuesday, August 7.

The ninth grader of SMPN (Public Junior High School) 12 Bekasi City participated independently with the Mathematics and Science Clinic she attended by undergoing quarantine for a week. “During the quarantine period, we were given various types of questions that must be solved,” she said.

Salsabila claimed to have faced obstacles, including the use of English as an introduction to the questions being tested. But she was able to answer the questions. “I like math since I was a second grader in elementary school,” she said.

The principal of SMPN 12 Bekasi City, Sungkawati, said she was proud of Salsabila. Moreover, Salsabila’s participation is purely on her own initiative and the financing of accommodation is done independently. “She comes home, wins a medal and makes a proud achievement," she said.
