Sidewalk Street Vendors to Enter Buildings during Asian Games

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno has a special plan for the street vendors who sell at the sidewalks during the 2018 Asian Games. Sandiaga wanted that during the 2018 Asian Games, the sidewalks free from the street vendors.
“We will enter them to the building or we give a special place so they don’t disturb the pedestrian path,” said Sandiaga in Senayan, South Jakarta, Sunday, July 8.
Sandiaga said that the street vendors will be relocated to buildings along the way that passed by athletes and volunteers. Occupying the building, the street vendors will be charged.
One of the targets of relocation is Sate Taichan merchant in Senayan area. Sandiaga said the plan would soon be submitted and discussed with Public Order Agency, Subdistrict Head and Mayor.
“So everything must be willing to sacrifice to ensure the success of this Asian Games,” Sandiaga said.
Besides the street vendors on the sidewalks, Sandiaga said that Jakarta Administration will also control the street vendors who sell on the streets during the Car-Free Day or CFD.
Sandiaga Uno will find a special place for the street vendors during the 2018 Asian Games and Car-Free Day. “Probably among the crossroads that can be arranged so they do not interfere with the flow of the road users,” said Sandiaga.
