KPK Sends Personnel to Assist Police over Novel Baswedan Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police and the anti-graft agency KPK have intensified cooperation to expose perpetrators behind the acid attack against Novel Baswedan.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief Agus Rahardjo said that his agency is planning on sending several investigators to assists police investigations.
With cooperation and coordination between the two law enforcement institutions, Agus hopes the investigation will show a progress.

“The National Police chief asked for help from the KPK to examine police findings. We’ll see about that. Hopefully, the investigation will show some progress,” Agus said at the Jakarta Police today, August 18.
He added the National Police and the KPK will conduct a cross examination to verify Novel’s testimonies provided to the KPK and the National Police.
National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian said that his institution fully supports the formation of an investigator team initiated by the KPK.
“The KPK has a surveillance capability. This team can cooperate [with police] in the field, for instance, to get clarifications,” Tito added.
Earlier on Monday, August 14, the Jakarta Police sent investigators to question Novel Baswedan at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore. KPK leaders also attended the questioning.
