Manado Airport Sees 200 Pct Increase in Foreign Tourist Arrival

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sam Ratulangi Airport in Manado sees 241 percent increase in foreign tourist arrivals, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports.
BPS head Suharyanto said that increased visitor arrivals was possible thanks to the opening of direct flights from Manado to China, as well as operations of charter flights from China.

Likewise, Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Riau sees 87.8 percent increase in foreign tourist arrivals, followed by Lombok International Airport with 63.94 percent hike.
In Juni 2017, arrivals were dominated by Chinese tourists with 160,200 visitors or 14.19 percent of total foreign tourist arrivals. The figure jumped significantly compared to June 2016 of 117,000 arrivals.
All in all, the number of foreign tourist arrivals in Juni 2017 reached 1.13 million or a 31.6 percent increase compared to Juni last year.
