TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Consulate General’s office in Los Angeles or the KJRI Los Angeles, last Sunday, March 18, was busy with a project directed by Livi Zheng. All of its staffs were included in the production which was done until late at night on Sunday.
The KJRI LA's project is aimed at informing the public on the immigration service. Livi Zheng is chosen as the director and the creative producer in the project since the KJRI wants to inform the public in a cinematical way, as said in the written statement received by Tempo today, March 22.
Livi Zheng is an Indonesian movie director who works in the U.S. film industry. One of her movies is Brush with Danger that was nominated for the Oscar.
The KJRI Los Angeles is the only Indonesian Consulate General in the U.S. that has a biometric system. At the KJRI Los Angeles, you will only need to pay for 35 USD to renew your passport and it will be completed in four working days.
Under the Consulate General Umar Hadi administration, the KJRI LA has been improving its service. Umar Hadi is also an author of best seller books, namely Indonesia and World Peace, Indonesian Masterpieces at Home and Abroad and The Linggajati Conference: A History Book for Children.
This project is really special since the production used the RED Epic-X Dragon camera with a 6K resolution that is higher than most of the cinema theaters have which is less than 4K. The RED camera is a standard camera used by Hollywood. The movies created with the RED camera were Transformer, Jurassic World, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
By creating the video, KJRI LA aimed at informing the public about the office’s immigration service including how to renewing passport and creating various kind of visa as well as to promote Indonesia.
The Consulate General Umar Hadi said, "I hope the people will understand the process and procedures of how to acquire passport and visa through this project.” So, they will be willing to come to the KJRI LA if they need to do anything.
He assured that the service has become more transparent now; the information is clear as well as the fee. “KJRI LA continues to improve its service to the public and Livi Zheng's creation spreads the information about the service to the public in a creative and interesting way,” Umar Hadi added.
The production of the project was totally similar to a Hollywood movie production. To make it more professional, one of the casts is Yoshi Sudarso, the Indonesian-born actor who played as Blue Ranger at the Power Rangers movie who also starred in NCIS: Los Angeles dan Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The actress who plays the female character in the video is Marsha Sondakh, an Indonesian woman with a legal background who is pursuing her dream in Fashion Marketing and Management. Marsha decided to move to Los Angeles with her father, Pendekar Sondakh, who works as Consular and Protocol Consular at the KJRI LA, to reach her dream.
KJRI LA is located at Wilshire Boulevard with the Hollywood Hills as the backdrop where many Hollywood movies were created, such as The Amazing Spider-Man, Rush Hour, Catch Me If You Can, Apollo 13 and The Mask.
