Police to Deploy 10,000 Personnel for Tomorrow`s Anti-Ahok Rally

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police officers will stand guard during the so-called 212 rally tomorrow at the House of Representatives (DPR) building. The rally will be led by the Islamic Ummah Forum (FUI) secretary general Muhammad Al Khaththath.
Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Argo Yuwono said that 10,000 personnel will be deployed.

Argo noted that the police have been notified on the planned rally by its coordinator on Saturday, February 18, 2017.
The notice says that protesters will be moving after an early morning prayer. At 7 am, they will march to the DPR building. The demand would be the dismissal of Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama for being put on blasphemy trial.
The National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Ulema Council Edict (GNPF-MUI) and the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) had said that they would not join the rally.
