TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Within 24 hours (from July 7 to July 8, 2016) there has been a 12 percent increase in the number of airplane passenger compared to the second day of Eid al-Fitr last year.
Based on observation made by the Transportation Ministry, there were 231,849 airplane passengers in the second day of Eid al-Fitr of 2016. The number is 12.63 percent higher compared to the 205,845 passengers recorded in the second day of Eid al-Fitr of 2015.
Sri Lestari Rahayu, Head of Transportation Ministry Outposts said that the increasing number of passengers were seen in several airports, including in Padang, Solo, Banda Aceh, Semarang, Tanjung Karang, Halim Perdanakusuma, Kendari, Denpasar, Jayapura, Yogyakarta, Medan, Praya, Jambi, Palu, Pangkal Pinang, Makassar, Surabaya, Biak, Ambon, Kupang, Pontianak, Tarakan, Pekanbaru, Manado, Bandung, Gorontalo, Palembang, Banjarmasin, Soekarno-Hatta, Jakarta
"From the [abovementioned] airports, the highest increase occurred at the Padang airport of 91.97 percent," Sri said on Friday, July 8, 2016.
However, Sri said that there is also a decrease in the number of passengers in several airports, including in Balikpapan, Tanjung Pinang, Palangka Raya, Batam, and Bengkulu. The largest reduction was recorded in Bengkulu with 98.64 percent decrease.
