TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Attorney General Muhammad Prasetyo said that the execution of 18 drug convicts is still being discussed by his office.
“We haven’t set [the date] yet. There are several things to discuss,” Prasetyo said at the AGO on Friday, June 17, 2016.
Earlier, junior attorney general for law enforcement Bambang Waluyo said that there were 18 death-row convicts to be executed this year. In addition, the AGO has set a target to execute 30 convicts in the following year.
The budget for the execution has been calculated. Each execution will cost Rp200 million (US$15,000).
Prasetyo revealed that he was still waiting for the legal status of the death-row convicts. For instance, Prasetyo explained, drugs convict Freddy Budiman recently appealed for a case review to the Supreme Court.
