TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said that the government has set the assumption on economic growth in 2017 at 5.5-5.9 percent. The assumption was conveyed Thursday based on a limited meeting on the indicative ceiling at the President’s office.

According to Bambang, the government has also set assumed inflation rate at 3.5 percent. “In addition, the assumption on rupiah exchange rate is set at Rp13,650-13,900,” he said.

The assumption on oil prices is set at US$35-40 per barrel, whereas oil lifting is set at 740-760 thousand barrels per hour. Bambang said that assumption on gas lifting is set at 1-1.1 million barrels per hour. “While on revenue, we will be [more] conservative by estimating to receive an increased tax revenue of no more than Rp30 trillion in 2017 compared to projected revenue of 2016.”

In 2017, the government will focus on a number of subsidies, for instance, fertilizer subsidy which has not been right on target. A number of ministries will become top priority, particularly in infrastructure, defense and security, education and health.

On state income, Bambang said the government expects a more certain and increased income following the implementation of Tax Amnesty Bill this year. On state spending, the Presiden will focus on program-oriented spendings. “So we [will] focus on infrastructure, health and education will still be top priority.”
