TEMPO.CO, Banda Aceh - Banda Aceh Mayor Illiza Saaduddin Djamal, instructed youths in villages to anticipate lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgenders (LGBT) in the region. Illiza hoped that youths could help in detecting and identifying LGBT communities.
"If they [exists] in villages, I expected young people to make a record [of LGBT]," Illiza said on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.
Illiza explained that the number of LGBT must be recorded so that they can be trained. "We will train them so they can return to the right path," Illiza said.
Illiza had previously stated her strong rejection towards LGBT in Banda Aceh. Illiza also stated his support for the Indonesian Ulema Council, which states LGBT is violating the 1945 Constitution and religious values.
"Basically, we don't hate the people, we hate their behavior. And we have to try to put them back to God’s path," Illiza said.
