BPS Announces 6.49% Domestic Air Passengers Increase

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced that the number of domestic air passengers in October 2015 reached 5.7 million people. This was a 6.49 percent increase from September's 5.3 million.

"The numbers of both domestic and international air passengers have increased. We hope they will increase higher," BPS deputy for statistics and services Sasmito Hadi Wibowo said in a press conference in Jakarta Tuesday, December 1.

According to Sasmito, the number of domestic air passengers from period of January to October 2015 reached 56.1 million people, a 15.64-percent year-on-year increase from 2014's 48.5 million.

"The number of international passengers in the period of January to October 2015 reached 11.4 million people, 0.40 percent higher than the same period in 2014, which totaled at 11.3 million people," he said.
