TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The District Attorney Office (DAO) in the city of Kefamenanu has arrested nine out of fourteen suspects in the corruption case of special allocation fund at the Youth, Education and sports Agency (PPO) in the Timor Tengah Utara regency. The corruption occurred in 2008 with a total value of Rp 47.5 billion.

"The nine suspects are now subject to investigation," Said Ridwan Angsar, the Head of Human Relations for the DAO, on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. According to Ridwan the arrest was in accordance with standard procedure and was considered necessary to prevent the suspects from escaping, repeating their actions, and destroying any evidence.

Luis Balun, the attorney for the nine suspects, is taking steps to postpone the arrest of his clients. Luis argued that his clients were arrested to speed up the investigation process. Luis asserted that one of the reasons for the arrest, which is destroying any evidence, cannot justify his clients arrest because all documents related to the crime have been confiscated.
