TEMPO.CO, Taipei - Among series of laptops, notebook, and personal computers that were displayed at Computex Taipei Summit Forum first week of the month, a teddy bear wearing diaper was seen.
The teddy-in-the-diaper was displayed by tech manufacturer Acer to introduce its Smart Diaper. The diaper, equipped with a small sensor, is having the size of a notebook.
This diaper shows the Internet of Things (IoT) side of the Taiwanese company.
“IoT becomes Acer’s focus,” said Acer Product Manager, Auther Yeh to Tempo.
Smart Diapers can detect liquid or dirt to help parents identify when their under-5 baby takes pee or poo. The sensor inside it can also count the baby’s temperature and send information about the baby’s sleeping position. This information is recorded on Bluetooth LE app and in the cloud.
According to Endgagdget.com, the smart diaper is designed by four Acer’s engineers. The diaper, which runs on Intel Edison processor, is currently in the development phase.
