Ahok Attempts to Provide Clean Water for Jakartans

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama admitted that currently, only 57 percent of Jakarta residents have access to clean water. Therefore, Ahok said that the Jakarta government will attempt to provide clean water in order for the rest of its residents.

"There are still 47 percent Jakarta residents of people that cannot obtain clean water. Wastewater processing [capacity] in the capital is still under five percent," Ahok said during the Water Sanitation and City Forum and Exhibition 2015 held in Jakarta Convention Center on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.

The Jakarta administration has taken several measures such as creating a local regulation that forbid residents from getting water by making deep wells.
