TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - From the outside, Amber Chocolate and Bar looks luxurious and sweets with white dominating the exterior. The first floor of the restaurant situated on Senopati Street, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta gives out feminine impression due to the vintage and minimalist furniture dressed in pastel. The colors would melt any stiff nerves resulted from a day of working.
Since its opening in December 23, Amber have become the talks among social media not only for its interior design but also its chocolate. Yep, the increasing popularity of chocolates as food or beverages have inspired Mount Scopus group to open Amber Chocolate and Bar after previous success with The Harvest, Negev, Chateau Blanc, and Balboni.
“It can be said that we are a high-class restaurant offering premium chocolate servings,” said Amber’s supervisor Bayu Segara as written by Koran Tempo on February, 12.
The menu list shows that chocolates in Amber are taken from Tain L’Hermitage, a city in France known for its premium chocolate Valrhona since 1922. Valrhona is special because it is made of cacao fat without using vegetable oil.
Each floor at this three-story restaurant is designed in different concepts. The first floor is called the ‘pastry boutique’ because it serves cakes, bread and macaron in a victorian fancy and luxurious room. Up one floor, it is designed as a restaurant for international dishes which soon became my favorite for its library and wooden interior.
The third floor is a sky lounge of industrial style. There are outdoor and indoor rooms available on this floor.
“If the rain suddenly fall, guests can easily move inside,” said Bayu.
Amber’’s outdoor lounge is less attractive compared to its indoor lounges because of its smaller space with sofa that would make us sit awkwardly. However, from its rooftop behind the lounge we can enjoy Jakarta’s cityscape with accompanied perfectly with a cup of hot chocolate.
