TEMPO.CO, Jeddah – Organization for Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Human Rights Commission has condemned the killings of Jordanian pilot and Japanese journalists by Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) militants.

“We express our concerns on the series of brutal killings by these brutal terrorists. Their acts are against Islamic teachings and human rights or international law on treatment of prisoners,” said the commission on Thursday.

The commission expressed their condolences for the families of the victims and countries affected by this cruel terrorism.

“No Muslims can forgive these cruel acts that distort the noble and peaceful messages of Islamic teachings.”

The commission also denounced extremist ideology and said some sources of extremism and intolerance were poverty, lack of education and political injustice.

“International community must solve these causes through a combination of economic, social, development and political solutions,” said the commission.

The commission also welcomed OIC secretary general Iyad Madani’s move to hold an emergency meeting of OIC Executive Committee.

“It is only through a strong and united act in all levels that we will be able to battle extremism and intolerance and promote dialogue, peace and harmony among cultures and civilizations,” said the commission.
