TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Google launches news-reading application Google Play Newsstand which allows users to explore more than 2,000 magazines, news papers, local and international blogs with only one touch. Google Play Newsstand is designed to present news based on the users’ preferences and needs, although it also recommends stories that may be interesting.
“More often you read news in Newsstand, the better it recognizes your reading preferences,” Google wrote on the press release received by Tempo on Thursday.
When users subsribe to magazines, newspapers, blogs or news portals, Google Play Newsstand would automatically adapt the format and optimize the interface to make it easier to read on tablets or smartphones. One touch would enable users to read the whole story including access to photos, audios and videos.
The app also enable users to read articles offline or bookmark an article to read it later. Thousands of articles (both paid and free) are available for subscription.
International media such as New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Business Insider, TMZ, The Verge, Al Jazeera, and ABC News are available in the app alongside local news portal such as Koran Tempo, Jawa Pos, Inilah, and Bisnis.com.
