TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama claimed that the Chairwoman of the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Megawati Soekarnoputri, has approved Djarot Syaiful Hidayat as his Deputy Governor. "I have a BlackBerry Messenger [BBM] message from a colleague of mine, saying that Mega has approved Djarot," said Basuki.

Ahok said that the other candidate, Boy Bernardi Sadikin, has rejected the offer. "[…] I am lucky. What I asked turns out to be what she gives," Ahok said.

Previously, Ahok said that he had waited for a candidate from PDI-P. He also claimed to have sent two names to the Ministry of Interior Affairs, propsoing Sarwo Handayani and Djarot Syaiful Hidayat. Ahok himself had expected that PDI-P would eventually propose Djarot, who is a former Mayor of Blitar.
