TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Former State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Dahlan Iskan said the three SOE president directors recently appointed by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as ministers were exceptional and worthy of their ministerial posts.
"They are great, suitable, very suitable [for the positions],” he said in Jakarta on Sunday, October 26, 2014.
President Jokowi announced on Sunday afternoon the 34 ministers in his Work Cabinet for the 2014-2019 Cabinet—three of them were SOE president directors during Dahlan’s tenure.
The three are former telecommunication firm PT Telkom president director Arif Yahya, who was appointed as Tourism Minister; former state railway operator PT KAI president director Ignatius Jonan, who was selected as Transportation Minister; and former state land-systems and weapons maker PT Pindad president director Sudirman Said, who was chosen as Minster of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Besides the three, Dahlan said there were more SOE president directors who were actually fit to occupy ministerial posts, among them Dwi Sucipto (Semen Indonesia), Sofyan Basir (Bank BRI), Budi Sadikin (Bank Mandiri), Arifin Tasrif (Pupuk Indonesia).
“If [Jokowi] wants [them], they are all excellent,” Dahlan said.
