TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A man is found dead at the automated telling machine (ATM) lobby at BCA Tower on Jl. MH Thamrin on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. The 40-year-old man died after jumping off from the 56th floor of the building at about 14.50 Jakarta time.

"His head was shattered and his legs severed," said the Menteng Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Gunawan at the incident scene.

The victim has been identified as Sulaiman Tanudjaja, born in Medan on December 27, 1968. Sulaiman is a resident of Penjagalan in Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

According to Tempo's observation, the canopy at BCA Tower's lobby is damaged and streaked with blood. The deceased, who was wearing a checked, blue, long-sleeve shirt and black pants, fell on to the canopy before hitting a car parked at the front of the building. The remains have been moved to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital to be autopsied.

Building administrators have begun to clean up the site of the incident.

Susi Sakti, an eyewitness, said the man had jumped before hitting the canopy and landing on the floor of the lobby. Susi was walking towards BCA Tower from Grand Indonesia's East Mall when the incident happened. "The majority of the body was covered, but some body parts were still scattered around the place," said the employee who works at BCA Tower.

Traffic around Jl. MH Thamrin was congested after news of the incident broke as people continued to flock to the location to see the dead body.

Gunawan said his personnel were still investigating the incident, but he suspected that this is a suicide case. "It's probably suicide," said Gunawan.
