TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ) is celebrating its sixth year as the Greater Jakarta Area (Jabodetabek) electric rail service provider. Since its founding on September 15, 2008, the commuter line developed its services to serve 700,000 passengers on a daily basis.
"We aim to expand our services to 1.2 million passengers per day by 2019," said KCJ's Communications Manager Eva Chairunisa on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. In an effort to reach the target, KCJ will continue to improve its services in the Jabodetabek area. "We plan to add 664 units to our existing fleet - a two-fold increase since we began services in 2008," said Eva.
According to Eva, the electronic ticketing system - which was put in place in July 2013 - has been consistently expanded to include all trips on the commuter line network. To date, there are two types of tickets available for purchase - the Multi Trip Ticket (KMT) and the Daily Ticket with a refundable deposit (THB). "We are also working together with four banks to provide bank-issued pre-paid tickets to be used on the commuter line network, which will make for a smoother trip for passengers," said Eva.
