TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yogyakarta chocolate confectioner, Chocolate Monggo, is not affected by the circulating news on the revocation of two Cadbury Dairy Milk's products that were produced by Malaysia. The products namely Cadbury Milk Roast Almond and Cadbury Milk Hazelnut have been revoked from distribution after they were found to contain traces of pig deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA).
The factory continues to operate because the company has to boost production to meet high demand for chocolate on the market. "Monggo chocolate has a different market share with imported chocolate products, such as Cadbury," Asridha S. Dina, Chocolate Monggo's representative told Tempo, Yogyakarta, Friday, May 30.
He said their company did not have to be concerned about the emergence of imported chocolate products on the domestic market. This is because all of their products already have a very special market. Moreover, they already have loyal customers in Java and Bali.
Their customers also do not have to doubt Monggo Chocolate's halal status because they use domestic ingredients. "We don't import from Malaysia. Our chocolate ingredients come from Sulawesi, Sumatra and Jember," Asridha said.
