TEMPO.CO, Gamburu - Another attack occured in one of the markets in Nigeria today. It took place in the middle of the country’s tension for the kidnapping of more than 200 female students by a group of Boko Haram militant since last month.
According to Reuters, dozens of armed people suspected as Boko Haram group fired at a market in Gamburu, eastern sea of Nigeria, which is the border of Cameroon. About 300 people were killed due to the attack yesterday.
The armed group is reported to have started spying on the market since Monday. They fired with automatic weapons the surrounding of the market before noon.
An eyewitness said the attackers have even burned houses and slit people's throat who happened to be there. "I counted at least 85 victims died in the location," said Talatu Sule, a resident who survived after hiding in the house along with his children.
There has not been any official confirmation concerning the attackers behind the attack. But there is a strong suspicion towards the Boko Haram group. To date, hundreds of female students have not been heard of the news. Last time, the leader of Boko Haram said that they will be selling them.
